The Beacon
Distance: Approx 8 miles / 13km
Ascent: 2000/ft 640m
Starting from Rose Bank Gardens in Great Malvern, the walk to Worcestershire Beacon and across the Malvern peaks is a stunning adventure.
From Rose Bank, a steepish ascent leads to Goldmine past Earnslaw Quarry and Lake. Then onwards around the west side of the hills before climbing up towards to saddle above Happy Valley. Here we drop down towards St Annes Well, a peaceful spot with a historic fountain and a lovely cafe.
From here we head towards the north to take in North Hill, Table Hill, and End Hill, Our route then rises towards Sugarloaf Hill before reaching the Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point at 425 meters, rewarding us with breathtaking 360-degree panoramas stretching to the Cotswolds and even Wales on clear days.
The mix of grassy slopes, rocky outcrops, and heather-clad ridges makes this walk both varied and exhilarating. Finishing in Great Malvern, it’s a journey rich in history, beauty, and a true sense of elevation.
